[Opinions] Eglė and Giedrė
So all the models in this Boden catalogue I just got had some interesting names, most of them seeming to be Lithuanian. Eglė and Giedrė were my favorites. I'd never heard them before and they seem quite pretty. In the comments it says Giedrė is pronounced GYEH-dray, so I'd assume Eglė is pronounced EG-lay?What do you think of them?
To me Eglė is white and a cool sunny day on a mountain lake, which really drew me to it. Giedrė is green and red and pine-tree-y.I'm not really sure how to go about making combos with them. I'm afraid they wouldn't pair well with something too non-Lithuanian. But I'm not at all familiar with Lithuanian names!

Haven't read your other posts, so maybe someone has already answered for pronunciation but here are the Forvo links...http://www.forvo.com/word/egl%C4%97_%28i._egl%C4%97%29/http://www.forvo.com/word/giedr%C4%97/Going by these, I like the sound of Giedrė but Eglė doesn't suit my ear.

I like both of them - I love Lithuanian names. I met a Dovilė a while back, which sounded very pretty when she said it. I think there might be regional variations in the pronunciations; these examples vary, but the last syllable has something between an ee and an ay sound, to my ears anyway.

http://www.forvo.com/search/giedre/The Boden catalogue is a top source of names. The winter one had an Inguna, which is apparently Latvian & fascinated me.:)

Ooh, Dovilė is really pretty!Inguna was in this catalogue too! I also thought it was interesting, but didn't really like it because it makes me think too much of iguanas! I was disappointed in the kids' names in the Mini Boden catalogue. They were pretty stereotypically British. Will have to check on the forvo links again later, for some reason my computer doesn't want to listen to them right now. :)

I recently added Eglė to my PNL! Not the one on here, but my long one on my computer. Anyway, I must have somehow missed Giedrė, but I like it. I find I'm drawn to the very unusual and the very ordinary, but not much in between.

Giedre seems like a variant of Deirdre.I'd guess Egle is pronounced as you say.

Wow. I should check out more Lithuanian names. Egle and Gierdre are fascinating. I've been more and more attracted to feminine names that are strong sounding, with hard B and G sounds. And these also have a fairy tale quality about them that I like. Neat! Thanks.
