I'm just really adoring this name at the moment. And since there is both a John and Jane in my fam it works in honoring. The only combo I really like is Joan Elizabeth, but I'm afraid that might be too plain. So Wdyt of Joan and if you will, hit me with some more combo ideas _______________________________________

Joan is certainly better than Jean yet it just feels so heavy for being a one-syllable name. It's almost like the sound of a heavy boot dropping to the floor. Sorry, it's hard to explain what I mean. Combos: Any classic, longer name works with Joan:Joan Alexandra

Love, love, love, love, loveJoan is one of the names I wish my husband liked. I would have loved to named our daughter Joan (or Joanna) but he it's one of the names he wouldn't budge on. It's such a gorgeous, understated and underused name. Joan Elizabeth is a bit plain but I like it. A lot.

Aw. Joan was my favorite aunt's name. It's great to see someone else who loves it too. It's so no-nonsense. And the nn Joanie is cute. Joan Elizabeth is not plain. It is as solid as a Georgian / colonial brick house. Balanced and built to last. It's regal. But since I can't resist a request for combos (sorry for any repeats):Joan Margaret (even "plainer," but my stock combo for Joan)/ Margareta / Marjorie / Margot

Funny, I came close to asking about this name just a couple of days ago.My reason for asking would have been different from yours, though. I really dislike it and was wondering what reasons anyone would have for liking it.I really, really dislike it. Plain, boring, ugly, and dumpy.

I'm starting to see Joan's beauty too, lately. Joan to me is arch and sharp and clever and competent, rich and deep, born an old soul. Joan Elizabeth is a little plain, I must admit. But, it's very respectable. Here's some more combos, for inspiration:Joan Margaux

Joan Alison is actually one of the first ones I considered, but I can't get past the initials- my last name starts with an 'R'

Eh. Those are my father in-law's initials. My initials with my maiden name spelled SEW. My brother's initials spell RAW. As long as it doesn't spell ASS or TIT or something, I don't think a word with initials is a problem!

I think Joan is awful. It's as dull and plain as Jane, but with a heavier, glummer sound. It's just gross.
