[Opinions] Ameliyah
AmeliyahSeen this name given to a new baby on Facebook. I assume its a creative version of Amelia.Wdyt of this spelling? I'll admit that I usually do like alternate spellings of names, but in this case I really don't think it works. It looks a bit of a mess.

I don't like the name Amelia anyway (too popular!), but this really does look "a bit of a mess"!

I'd expect the tweaked spelling to signal a pronunciation change, so I'd have guessed at something like am-a-LEE-a. Which doesn't get my pulse racing, but at least there'd be some reason for it besides a misguided stab at originality!

Looks like a cross between Amelia and Aaliyah / Aliyah. I think it's a bit overdone... too many letters. I'd prefer Ameliya if they reallllllly wanted to give it an alternate ending. Not Ameliah though; that looks awkward (and even worse than Ameliyah).
(This just reminded me that I like "Liya"... hmm...)

Ameliyah seems quite childish to me. Added Ys tend to have that affect on me.

Ruining and butchering a perfectly lovely, classic, feminine name by trying to make it "unique", but instead making it unattractive and causing your daughter to forever have to spell out her name. Clearly not a fan of this!
