It's just on for me. I've known a few Isaias's, all hispanic. Nice, but the name itself in America would be probably automatically considered Hispanic, at least where I'm from. So you'd have to consider if you had a little boy walking around the play place at Mcdonalds, people are going to think you are probably saying "Isaiah's" instead of Isaias, and you'd probably be explaining to a lot of people, noooo, not Isaiah's, Isaias!
Just a thought:) and I like Isaiah much better anyways! Lol.
( sorry for any repeats. Haven't read the previous threads!)

Pronounced eye-ZAY-us (like Isaiah) or eye-ZYE-us?

either one

I think eye-SAY-us would be misheard (in English speaking places) as Isaiah's, which would annoy me if it was my kid. And I think eye-SYE-us isn't a very intuitive pronunciation (again, in English speaking countries), so you'd have to be willing to correct people without getting annoyed. I don't love the sound of either.

I like it, but I prefer Isaiah.

I'm much more used to the Isaiah version; the UK and SA pronunciation is ieZIEah. Does Isaias sound like isZAYas in the US?Either way, I'm not a fan. Unlike names like Daniel, it's never escaped from the OT and I just see grim old men in homemade sandals, striding through the desert.

I love Isaias, it's a wonderful name. Better than Isaiah, though I like both.

I like it. It's a soft, quiet, gentle, humble name. Isaiah is very similar, but I think Isaias ages a little better. Maybe it's because of the recent popularity of -ah named like Jonah and Noah, but Isaiah makes me think of children while Isaias could easily be somoene of any age.

Isaias is alright, but personally I much prefer Isaiah. I think Isaiah has a better sound to it.
