I really like it though I prefer Peregrin (so I also prefer the pronunciation PER-uh-grin). Of course Pippin is my favourite nickname for it, since I love LOTR, but Perry is cute too. I can only see it on a boy, though.

This is one of those names that I like on paper. I like the way it looks and I like the idea of it, but when I say it it seems way to clunky. Also, I haven't found any nicknames that I really like. Were you thinking for a boy or a girl?

Reg/Reggie could work for a boy or a girl - cuter on a girl because it's sort of oldish sounding for a boy (but my least disliked of the nicknames)

I've only ever heard it pron. GRIN, not GREEN, so I can't really say on that one. I guess GREEN sounds a bit like one is trying too hard to make it sound fancy.

The only Peregrines I've heard of were a real girl on tv (came from a hippyish background), and a male character in a book (fantasy, outdoorsy warrior - which prob made me like it:)).

I honestly don't care much for it. It makes me think of Peregrine falcon, so it sounds masculine to me. The only nn I can think of is Perry.

Love love love this name!!! Never met a Peregrine (excepting Peregrin "Pippin" Took from Lord of the Rings). I prefer Per-eh-grin pronouciation, and I like the nns Perry and Pippin. It is certainly a male name imo.

I always think of the English journalist Sir Peregrine Worsthorne - and it is a very posh name, as well as slightly amusing (Smollett's novel "The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle). I prefer Per-uh-grin as the pronunciation.
Because I don't like surnames or nicknames/diminutives as first names I would use it as a way to get to Perry as a nn (I love Perry Mason as portrayed in the old black and white series by Raymond Burr!)
Another posh P name (though spoiled for me by Piers Morgan) is Piers - have liked it ever since reading "Piers Plowman" at school. A friend who also fell in love with it named her son Piers.

I think of the bird. Also, the type of person that comes to mind is sickly and nerdy. Stays inside and reads books because he is afraid of the outside world. I also don't like the 'grin' sound on the end.

I love this name ^_^ Peregrine is actually on my favourite names list, and I only let myself put ten on there at a time.

I say it peh-ruh-grin. It makes me think of untamed woodland and the way those birds soar, riding the winds without effort. They seem noble, but without the brilliant arrogance of an eagle.
I've never met anyone called Peregrine. D'you know it's the full name of Pippin from the Lord of the Rings? (Just wondering)

I like Peregrine. I think it's a very open and adventurous name. It doesn't make me think too much of the falcon, nor of the hobbit (he spells it without the -e, I know). Instead I picture a handsome piratey looking guy standing on the bow of his ship. Lots of tan sort of colors going on. Looks a lot like Orlando Bloom, really... :)

I pronoucne it per-uh-grin, never heard it -green before. I do know one Peregrin, he's the son of a friend of mine... 5 years old or so. They call him Pippin, of course. I don't really like that much, and I even more dislike Perry. So not sure where that leaves us for nicknames.
