Help[Opinions] Valentine for a girl
Valentine is my absolute favorite girls' name. I remember falling in love with it when I saw it in The Count of Monte Cristo - in fact, Valentine was my favorite character in the book. I like the French pronunciation better. I know a few people with the name myself. It's somewhat popular here at the moment, but I don't care. I want to use it on my first daughter if I ever have kids.

I'm so anti all things 14 February that I wouldn't consider it for either boys or girls. It sounds pleasant enough, and I suppose Val is acceptable as a nn, though I don't like it either.
It was the name of Mr Albert Campion's sister in the Margery Allingham detective novels; she was a fashion designer, and known as Val. Good books!

I was unfamiliar with the French pronunciation so I had to look it up. It is quite pretty. It takes some getting used to thinking of it as a girl name as I automatically think of St. Valentine, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on a girl. Actually that seems to be the culturally accepted usage where you are. I'd give it a thumbs up.
