I don't particularly like Rhia.

One of my friends on Facebook has a daughter named Rhea, and I have a friend who shortens her name to Raya. Both of those are more appealing to me than Rhia.

If you take the h out, you've got the perfectly acceptable Ria, which could well be short for Maria, Victoria etc. And if you make the i an e, you've got the equally authentic Rhea, a bit pretentious and probably likely to create spelling confusion but still better than messy-hybrid Rhia.

While I initially thought it was fine (and agree with others that I've only seen Rhea or Rhiannon), I'd personally hesitate to name anyone something that shared the ending of a gastrointestinal complaint. :/

It's okay - looks fine to me, although I'm more used to Rhian (RHEE un). I've known two Rias, but they were both short for something else.

I've seen Rhia as a nickname for Rhiannon, but never on its own.
I think it's very cute, and I like the spelling better than Rhea because I think 'ia' combination looks pretty.

Maybe it wont sound terrible sophisticated on a grown up, but few people are so very, very sophisticated so I think it would be okay. It;s not like a grown-up man being named Sammy short for nothing, or anything.

I think if I used it I'd choose a longer middle name though, to kind of balance it out :)

I've seen Rhea. I like Rhea. But I prefer Thea.

I've used it as a nn for Alexandria before (Ria).

I've seen Rhea occasionally but not on anybody I knew.
It sounds like just a half a name, the way Elle or Nia does.
