How do you know it's "African"? Which of the hundreds of languages in Africa is it supposed to be from?
Nykia looks more like an African-American creation than a truly African name to me personally. When you put "Nykia" and "Africa" into Google at the same time, most of the examples that come up actually seem to be typographical errors for Nyika, a place name in Malawi.
