I just hate the name Anne. Hate hate hate. One of the reasons I hate it is because of how generic it is, the same as Mary and Jane. I dislike both Mary and Jane because of how generic they are. But I don't just dislike Anne, I hate it. This is because, while Mary and Jane are generic, and this makes me dislike them, they don't sound bad. Anne is worse, though, because in addition to how generic it is, I also hate the way it sounds. I find nothing at all attractive or pleasing about the way that Anne sounds. This pushes it past Mary and Jane and the "dislike" category into the "hate" category.

What would I think if I met sisters named Anne and Jane? I'd think that their parents missed two splendid opportunities to choose beautiful and interesting and distinctive names for their daughters, names that say something.
