[Opinions] Jude
As a kid, I always said I would have five children: William, Yulie, Jude, Nell, and Deena (most names were from videogames or movies)I've gotten over most of the other names (had even forgotten them for a time) but recently thought of Jude and I kinda like it again. So what do you think of Jude?

It's okay.

I don't care for it. I can't get Hey Jude out of my head.

Rather go for William and Nell. Jude has numerous unfortunate rhymes, but the main issue is how it masquerades as a short form of Judith rather than Judah or Judas. That said, the Beatles song is one of the glories of our civilisation, but even there, Jude becomes Judy at one point.

Love it!One of my top favorites for a boy for some time now. I think it's classic, while maintaining a sense of modernity...and it's not overly used.

I like it, but I prefer it as a NN for Julian.

I recently got to know the most awesome woman called Jude. Her full name was Judith but Jude suited her because she was cool and spunky whereas Judith is a kind of frumpy old fashioned name.I don't mind it for a boy, but since meeting Jude I think of it as a girls' name.

I like it, but it has a nicknamey vibe to it.

NoJude is one of my least favourite names of all time. Partly because I find the sound really unattractive - Rude Jude, lewd Jude, Jude the prude, crude Jude, Jude pooed.
But mainly because Jude is the German word for Jew. Even though it is pronounced differently (in German J=Y, and the e isn't silent) I've been to Auschwitz and Sachsenhausen. The word Jude was everywhere, and as a result is forever tied in my mind with the horrific things that happened there. Things that I couldn't even imagine happened until I was there where they actually did. I still have nightmares about what I saw and learnt. I can't separate the word Jude from that.So I really can't stand Jude. Which is funny, because I love Judah. But I'd never use it, because of the chance it would be shortened to Jude.

Oh, that's a good point about Jude being German for Jew. Interesting.

I agree with pretty much everything you said - and I've been to Sachsenhausen too.

I really despise it. It's such an unattractive sound. For some reason, whenever I hear this name, I get a picture in my mind's eye of a big, hulking, hairy Neanderthal. Also Judas Iscariot. Whom I picture as a big, hulking, hairy Neanderthal. Blech.

funny about Judas ...I picture him as a weaselly, slicked-back-hair kind of guy in a too-tight suit and with a big phony toothpaste-ad smile.

I like it. It's handsome. I just wish it wasn't the Swedish word for 'jew'. Wouldn't work here. :)

I really like the name Jude a lot. It's handsome, masculine, simple yet still strong. It's not overly popular either, which is a bonus.
