Yes, double vowels are pronounced longer in Finnish :)
Some Swedish-speaking Finns also on the area?
Likes:
Johannes & Mikael as sibset
Kaarlo Viktor Viljami
Luukas
Iida Elsa Eleonoora
Anna Lyydia Metsämansikka - interesting combination of old classics and... hipster
Enni Mertta Maria - is Mertta typo or the real thing?
Nooa Aleksanteri
Akseli
Vilho Samuli and Sylvi Helena
Not sure:
Urho on a baby (!!!) (Selma, Aune and Simo Jouni also go to this same group)
Annami - a what?
Jonni Petter - there is something appealing about this, but... no.

Yeah, some of the babies had a Swedish last name, so at least some of them might be Swedish-speaking :)
And it really was Mertta, not Martta or Hertta! I kinda like it, but then again I prefer those traditional forms...

Could you tell me the background on Sasu, Pihla and Nuutti? :)
Storm and wild strawberry...interesting! Are nature names popular in Finland?

Sasu is a modern diminutive of Sakari, a Finnish form of Zachary. Pihla is derived from "pihlaja", which means rowan tree in Finnish. Nuutti is a Finnish form of Knut.
Yes, nature names are very popular in Finland :) Myrsky and Metsämansikka, however, are very rare among those names, but I think Myrsky has become a bit more common in the recent years.
