What do you think of Florence n.n. Flossie?

Am I the only one...
who can think only of the maid in "The Jeffersons" when I hear the name Florence? I guess so. Must be my age.

I think Florence is lovely, but don't like the nn Flossie at all. I prefer Florence for a mn too.

I like Florence. I know a little Florence, French speaking, not that she speaks yet, she's just a baby.
Flossie-agree with Rox, it's too cow-y.
My mother use to read "The Bobsey Twins" books;the children were two sets of twins, boy/girl each ones, the older, Bob and Nan (I think Bob), and the younger, Freddie and Flossie
I use to think that 2 sets of twins in a family was pushing it, however, my daughter-in-law's mother has two sets of twins in her family.The mother is a twin, with a sister, and then twin brothers.

My SO's cousin has two sets of twins; however, she had seven pregnancies, and the first set of twins were the result of the first pregnancy, and the second set of twins were the result of the seventh pregnancy. They weren't born one right after the other. That would pretty much astonish me, unless it were the result of fertility treatments.

Florence is very pretty, slightly elderly and fussy, and very established. I really like it, but it's a name that I, personally, overuse, so I sometimes find myself getting bored of it. That's not a reflection of the name itself, just my predictable name choices.
On the other hand, I really dislike Flossie. It's just not my style at all. I know two Florences, both under 30 - one goes by Flo and one just goes by her full name.

I think it's horribly old-fashioned and I would never want to be called Flossie in a million years. Sorry.

Florence is a pretty, dignified, gentle name. I picture an elderly lady who still wears a hat to church and has actual tea parties, but who also loves playing with her grandkids and working in her garden. I wouldn't use it as a first name, but I wouldn't rule out using it for a middle name.
Flossie sounds like a milk cow, or a slave. It just robs Florence of its dignity. Flo is sort of cute, in a noisy, wise-cracking waitress kind of way, but all in all I'd rather just see Florence with no nickname.
