I don't like the name Garnet at all. It doesn't even sound like a real name to me. It sounds more feminine than masculine to my ears.

I like it very much, despite the fact that "garnet" actually means "the yarn" in Swedish...

I do not find it pretty or appealing, and any gem name will almost always seem "lower tier" to me.

Actually I was thinking about this name earlier this year. I kind of like it as a name that isn't common but people would still know how to pronounce. I think of it as more of a girls' name being a gemstone and all, but I guess it can work for boys as well.

I like Garnet. I think of it as female, because I associate it with the princess in one of the final fantasy video games. Also for that reason, I like the combo Garnet Alexandra (similar to her name in the game). But I also like:Garnet Emma, Garnet Emily, Garnet Amelia, Garnet Emmeline
Garnet Katharine
Garnet Georgiana
Garnet Lucy, Garnet Lucille
Garnet Cordelia
Garnet Helena
Garnet Christina

To me it's more a male name, as I've known a few men named Garnet. But sure, it could be a woman's name.

I like it, and see it as strictly female.

I went to school with a girl named Garnetta.
Feminine it may be, but I don't find it at all attractive. That Garn sound is ugly to me.

It's all female to me, since it's a gemstone. There's a female character named Garnet in Final Fantasy IX, named after the gem. Appropriate enough, the character was born in January (garnet is the January birthstone.)I don't like it that much.
