Is there any reason for this spelling? This spelling is a surname and nothing else. The word is spelled Shepherd.
It seems like it'd be handsome for a boy; not sure how I feel about it on a girl. I guess I'd have an "oh, interesting!" reaction if I met one, nothing really bad or good.

Sheppard feels more like a name to me, and Shepherd is too much of a word. Thinking about the meaning of 'shepherd', I don't really like the idea of naming a child that - which is the main issue I have with Sheppard because obviously it sounds the same.
