I absolutely adore Eamonn, it's in my top 5 boy names. I think it's just so incredibly handsome and interesting.
I don't think it'd be that hard for people to figure out, you really just have to imagine that the E is silent for people to pronounce it properly. It fits in with a lot of names that are popular right now, two syllables ending in -an.
