Help[Facts] Pronunciation of "Kane" in Japanese?
I was just looking this up myself, but I have found a couple of different ways... I just wanted to clear up which was correct.
These are both from Yahoo! Answers.
"I would read it as Ka (Car) Ne (Nest). Similar to the name, Akane."
OR...
"Some people answered wrong, they are just taking the letters KANE and pronounceing it the Japanese way, which is NOT the name.
The name changes its spelling all together to match the pronunciation of your name.
It is ケイン kein . Pronounced VERY similar to how its pronounced in english
the beggining Ke, is the same like (kay) but the end is similar to the english word "in" but with more of a E sound instead of I.
So like Kay ein. Hard to explain."
The second one was answered by a Japanese user, so I had sort of assumed they were correct... Still, I want to know for sure. Can anyone back this up?

There is a Japanese word Kane which means "metal, gold; money." This is pronounced roughly as your first responder stated. Two syllables, Ka- (as in car) -ne (as in nest). It would be written in their phonetic script as かね(ka-ne).
However, if a person's name in English is "Kane" (rhyming with main), the Japanese will not say it as though it were a Japanese word. They will approximate the English pronunciation. And, they will write it in a way that matches that pronunciation: ケイン (kein).
