[Opinions] Indiana
I've been liking Indiana (masc.) lately, most likely as a middle name, and I'm also thinking about Leia. Yes, I have very much been geeking out over the holidays. What are your thoughts on the two names? Much obliged!

I like Indiana for a girl, I know she'd probably have trouble what with Indiana Jones being a massive male influence, but he did say himself that he chose the name after his dog, and for some reason I've just always assumed the dog was a girl, whether it was mentioned in the move or I just made it up, I'm not sure! The name sounds feminine anyway, apart from Jones, I couldn't imagine it on a boy.
I would love girl/boy twins to call Indiana and Harrison!Leia has a nice sound to it, but it's very Pop Culture influenced, which I think could be hard to escape from. I'm not a fan of the spelling, but I don't know how else it could be spelt to reach the same pronunciation.

I can see the appeal of Indiana on a girl, certainly. Thank you!

Not an Indiana fan. It makes me think of the song "Indiana Loves Me" and how terrified I was of the police sirens featured in the song as a kid.
I don't mind India for a girl, though (I know that's unrelated, but Indiana immediately makes me think of India). Leia is great. Nerdy, but awesomely so.

I'm not sure I've heard of the song. I love India, though I think it's more of a guilty pleasure, really. Thanks!

Although I don't like Indiana, it's very usable, especially as a middle name. I've always liked Leia. I've even met two, one a teenager and the other a toddler. Granted, when I met each, I was at Star Wars conventions. I think it's a pretty name, but it does scream "My parents were rabid fans."

Haha, I think you're right regarding Leia! I wonder if that, too, might be better suited to the middle name spot. Thanks!

If this were a sibset, I would think the parents had a Stormtrooper wedding, or something. VERY geeky. Individually, they're okay, but you can't hear them without Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher flashing in your brain. Nothing necessarily *wrong* with that, but it's very specific.

I almost think it's a shame they are so specific... Though, as I'm typing, I recall meeting a LAY-uh (presumably Léa) once, and Carrie Fisher didn't even cross my mind. How odd. Thanks, anyway!

Indiana is more male than female to me. Probably because of Indiana Jones. That was the first Indiana I heard off. I think it works both as a first and middle name but I kind of prefer it as a middle name combine with a more common first name, like Thomas Indiana. Ooh, I really like that.
So, yes, I like Indiana and I think it's usable. Leia screams Star Wars. I don't mind it, but if you name your child Leia I expect you to be a Star Wars fan.

I was definitely thinking something along the lines of Thomas Indiana! So dashing.Thank you!
