I am only a fan of the traditional pronunciation. It's a great name, but I wouldn't use it on a child - maybe a pet.

I prefer the traditional pronunciation. Tal-uh-sin could easily be misheard as talisman.

IMO, as you're in the UK and not thousands of miles away where nobody's ever going to know or care, there's no excuse for not pronouncing it properly. It's not difficult, there aren't any sounds in it that don't work in English:

I've never heard it pronounced that way, not that I've heard it often. I pronounce it how BtN describes it (tal-ee-ES-in). I think it's a very nice name, although a little unwieldy. Our good friends have a baby boy named Taliesin and the pronunciation I mentioned is the same one they use. I'm curious to ask them sometime how much trouble they've already had with his name.
