[Opinions] Roland
Thoughts on good ol' Roland? This one doesn't seem to pop up on too many 'favorites' list, at least not to my knowledge.

I have mixed feelings about this name.
I love the sound and the fact it ages so well. It looks adorable on a kid, but mature on an older man, but I also think it sounds to familiar to Ronald, which makes me think of the clown.

It makes me think of electronic music.
As a name I guess it feels like Leland to me - kind of dorky and seems surnamey. But not bad. I came close to putting it on a list, but I was pronouncing it to rhyme Holland. The "roll" sound doesn't really appeal to me.

Very Dark Tower. I like it.
I like it. It's a solid name for a consistent sort of fellow. It just doesn't wow me, and it doesn't have enough soft friendly feelings about it for it to become a favorite.
My sister once dated a guy who was from Holland and he was named Roland. He pronounced Roland to rhyme with Holland so we called him Roland From Holland. Except once when I, by accident, said Roland as to rhyme with Poland so I ended up calling him Roland From Poland instead. Anyway, I guess because of that, it's seemed really "Europe-y" to me, not American enough for red-blooded American me.
Love, love, love it. Unfortunately it's a little complicated in my family so not sure if I'd ever get to use it.
I think it's so handsome though!

I like it, I think it's handsome and friendly and cuddly. I'd like it enough to consider using, but it's really really close to our last name!
So, you don't care for the name? ;)
I don't like it. It isn't the best of any world--not warm enough to be comfortable, not dignified enough to be sophisticated. It's really not my thing.
I met a Roland Maximilian once, and it kind of made me cringe. I can envision the intention behind a kind of silly, grand name, but it wasn't hitting the mark to me.
My mother had an uncle Roland who was born as Orlando before the family came to the U.S.

Great name. Very knightly to my ears; can't seem to think of it without mentally inserting "Sir" in front of it. On the flipside, I also find it extremely adorable, because it also puts me in the mind of "roly poly" baby boys. I think it'd age well.
