I was told last night that my hubby likes the name Isabelle, while I like it, I also know that it is pretty popular (though not quite as much as Isabella, which strangely, I don't like much). However it does fit my "names that could have been used in the Middle Ages" thing I have.
What are some good middle names that up the quirk factor for Isabelle?
The only combo I've come up with is Isabelle Naomi (I really love Naomi's meaning), and I'm definitely up for less common names that that one.
Also do you prefer the Scottish Isobel, or the French Isabelle? Do you like another variant better?
General thoughts on the name?

I like both Isobel and Isabelle I also like Isabel which is maybe a bit different then Isabelle and less common, though Isabelle still a nice name

I find Isabelle very beautiful. I prefer Isabel and Isobel, but Isabelle is also nice.
Here's a combo for you: Isabelle Plaisance. Medieval as heck(she was a queen of Jerusalem I think) AND it means "pleasant". ...or, so I assume.

I prefer the Spanish, Isabel. Anything else is not for me.

I do like the simplicity of Isabel. Unfortunately, neither of us really have any Spanish heritage, so I find it harder to connect with, but I find it incredibly elegant.

General thoughts on the name, I don't like it at all. I find it heavy and clunky. I don't understand when people say that Isabelle or Isabella are "pretty pretty princess" because if I thought they were "pretty pretty princess" I would like them, as I like "pretty pretty princess" names. But a pretty pretty princess is the last thing I see in my mind's eye when I hear Isabelle or Isabella. Really not getting why Isabella is so popular. I know you asked about Isabelle and not Isabella, but to me they are basically one and the same so what goes for one goes for the other.

I don't actually find those names 'pretty pretty princess' names at aLl, with the exception of Angelique.

I love Isabelle, and its popularity saddens me. I prefer Isabelle, I love French names and Isobel... I don't know... I've warmed to it recently, but it's still not my favourite name.
Isabelle Naomi is lovely! I do prefer Noémie, though. I'm not great at making combos / suggesting names based on other names in general, but here's my best shot:
Isabelle Eléonore - I actually prefer this one the other way round, it's one of my top combos
Isabelle Freyja- love this spelling!
Isabelle Amaya- I love Isabelle Amy but it would be so common...
Isabelle Brook- used to find Brook tacky, but changed my mind after reading a book where it was used and now love it as a MN
Isabelle Jeanine- this name has been in my head a lot recently
Isabelle Nisha- Nisha is such a cute name, and I like the meaning
Isabelle Saffron- I haven't thought about this name for ages, it deserves more attention in my opinion
Isabelle Isolde- normally not a fan of alliteration but I think this is lovely
