It's way better on guys. Sounds naturey/hippy, and also namey because it's similar to Brian.
As a girl name I think it sounds spiky and difficult. I could see Rosebriar as a girl name, but not plain Briar.

Though, I have never seen Rosebriar, only BriarRose. I like both.
