[Opinions] Athena
Replies
Most Athena's I've known have been Hispanic. But I did have a friend recently (well, 4 years now) name her daughter this. A little blonde cutie. I think it can work for anyone and with the popularity of Greek names, I don't think anyone would side eye you for it.
I've always liked Athena. In fact, Greek names are among my favorites, period. The Athena combo I used to like a lot was Athena Joelle but I'm sure many mns would complement it.
Athena Rosalie is gorgeous. Rosalie is really pretty. In fact, two of my girls are interested in using it one day. Who knows? ;-) Re: Athena Penelope, it's authentic and quirky yet the flow is off a bit for me.
Other suggestions:
Athena Juliet
Athena Daphne
Athena Madeleine
Athena Marielle
Athena Caroline
Athena Charlotte
Athena Jacqueline

I think it's a generally good name, though I personally prefer it as a middle rather than first name.
To me, the name suggests a hash, possibly stoic, athletic and disciplined woman with dark hair who prefers the company of men to that of other women. (Or perhaps prefers just her own company.) She has very little patience and is very driven.
Middle names...
Athena Grace
Athena Jacqueline
Athena Rowan
Athena Catherine
Athena May

Athena Harriet
Athena Jade
I also like Athena Rosalie, for the record. :)

It is a little "goddess-y" but I think it could be used. I picture a little girl with long, wavy, blond hair. I like Athena Penelope.

I really like Athena. It is strong, feminine, and neither unheard of nor overused.
I like Athena Penelope quite a bit, very Greek. :)
Athena Rosalie is nice as well, it has a softness to it.
Others I would consider.
Athena Juliet
Athena Caroline
Athena Cecily
Athena Persephone
I'm drawing a blank for more at the moment.

I like it and don't think its to goddessy, but I cant picture it on a baby no matter how hard I try. I'm sure that will change if I ever meet a baby Athena though
I like Athena, and I think it's totally usable (and it's in the US top 200, so obviously other people feel the same way). It's a bit goddess-y, but not in an unapproachable way.

Athena is one of those really weird-popular niche names in my life. I know of, like, three Athenas! And they aren't even Greek! So I am kind of meh about it because I get too much exposure to it. So yeah, it's totally useable, and I immediately picture a redhead (like carrot copper, with matching orange freckles) with hippy-flowy sort of style, and a big grin and loud, open opinions, because all three Athenas are kinda that way.
Athena Rosalie is nice. Athena Penelope is ok... Athena Penny is totally cute, and suits my idea of what an Athena is about - friendly, earthy, simple.
Combo ideas:
Athena Lucy
Athena Marjorie, Athena Marguerite
Athena Eleanor
Athena Gwen (really like this)
Athena Frances
Athena Kate
Athena Amy
Athena Nell
Athena Adele
Athena Fern
Athena Tess
Athena Mary
Athena Megan
Athena Lauren
Athena Janet
Athena Gretchen
...wow I find Athena incredibly hard to combo! Athena Gwen and Athena Eleanor are my favourite attempts up there.

Athena is a very nice name, it is a bit goddessy but in a good way it is related to wisdom which is a good meaning.

My friend's mum has a 9-month-old baby named Athena. She thought that it's a name associated with a Roman goddess and she was looking for Roman names that could fit her but by the time she realised that it's actually a Greek name, she was already born so she ended up giving that name to her anyway. I haven't got the chance to meet her yet but I would imagine she is fun and easy to get along with.
Personally, I think it's usable for a girl in this day and age and I don't think the goddess image would hurt the name much.

I think it's lovely. Not too goddessy at all, it would be lovely on a young girl, and age well.
Athena Penelope I think is beautiful. I don't think Athena Rosalie flows as well.
I go between really liking Athena and then being not sure, as I dislike most th names.
Athena Melisande
Athena Briseis
