I like it very much, but I prefer Marina, which I think is less trendy.

My name is Marissa. I get a lot of compliments on it which is good I guess but sometimes people call me Melissa when I tell them my name and I have to correct them.

I like it but maybe thats because i think Micha barton plays that role on the oc and i think shes stunning and suits the character name really well, i didnt like the name so much before.

I like it. When I hear it, it does make me think of the O.C. and I don't even watch that show!

I used to dislike the name Marissa b/c I thought it was too "prissy," as well, but as I've gotten older it's started to grow on me. I like the first syllable, but I still tend to shy away from names that end with -issa.

My sisters had a friend over today named Marissa.
My mom wanted me or one of my sisters to be Marissa but my dad thought it was too prissy.
And I agree. I hope I didn't offend anyone!

I think it's pretty, too, but the -issa names have been played out in my area: Carissa, Larissa, Marissa, Melissa, Alyssa. Now I've heard it so much, I don't think I could use it.
