Help[Opinions] Ilan, Wolfram & Orson
Thoughts on these 3 boy names? Ilan is pronounced EE-lan and I've seen it spelled Elan, too.
also, do you think Salem(b) is usable as a first name?

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

Ilan is nice, and I prefer that spelling to Elan (which looks more like it should be pronounced more like "Ellen").
Wolfram feels very much like a surname, and also immediately brings to mind Wolfram & Hart, Attorneys at Law from the tv series 'Angel' (a law firm founded by demons). It's really not a positive association. Wolfram as a first name feels like an older, rich & powerful man in a suit, probably sitting at a dark wood desk in his dark wood office with old leather-bound books on his dark wood bookshelves.
Orson, again, feels like a surname, but without any negative associations. And of course there's Orson Welles. It's got a cute meaning, imo. :)
Despite its rather nice original meaning, Salem has very strong witch trials associations. :/ I think Jerusalem would be a more usable and a less unfortunate alternative.

Ah, Wolfram, my love! So wonderful to see you here.
Wolfram has become a favorite of mine lately, so of course I have nothing but praise for the name. Very handsome and dignified, with the cool nickname Wolf or the adorable pet-name Wolfie. ♥
Ilan is a name that I've never given much thought to, but I probably should since it's the kind of name I usually like. I like the sound, meaning, and look of it (prefer Ilan to Elan). My only concern is that some might think it's Alan at first glance, but that's not so bad.
Orson isn't a name I cared very much for before (I could respect it on Wells, but I didn't see the appeal for anyone else. And anyway, there's Orion, similar but so much better, imho), but it's been coming up lately and it really has been growing on me. I still wouldn't use it, but I think it's a nice choice for somebody else's kid.
Salem on a boy is a name that I love, but you'll get lots of people telling you that it's either too feminine (I don't think it is, but meh) or that it's too evocative of the Salem witch trials. Or that it's the name of Sabrina the Teenage Witch's cat. I do think it's usable, but it seems to come with so much baggage that I'd be hesitant with it, myself. A shame, really, as it's a wonderful name.

I only like Ilan of those three, and have to say Salem is terrible. You might as well be calling your kid "Witch Trial".

I like Ilan, although I've never seen this one before. Okay, I must admit, that I like Hebrew names as well as El...names.
I'm just confused about its pronunciation... even if it is supposed to be pronounced EE-lan, I don't think people would do so.
Wolfram is old-fashioned and doesn't have much finery about it. Makes me think of a gray-haired man in his 60s or so. Better than Wolfgang though!
Orson is ok. Nice way of honouring Orson Welles. Of course, everyone will have him in mind when hearing the name. Therefore probably a better middle name!
