Message: "Edelma" - Behind the Name

There's a critic whose books I sometimes read, E.D. Huntley. I never paid much attention to what E.D. would stand for, but it turns out E stands, for all things, Edelma. WDYT? I'd probably prefer Adelma or Idelma (pron. Ee-delma), Edelma feels the way the likes of Edna and Ethel do, very old and dowdy.

I have a soft spot for both Edna and Ethel, so it makes sense that I like Edelma. While Adelma certainly seems more modern, I think that Edelma has a bit more clunky class. Sure, it's dusty - but it's got miles of personality.

Probably not the best choice for a child today, but I still like it.

Edelma is only one letter off from the word edema which means swelling. That is what I think of when I see this name.

It's interesting. I thought of Fidelma / Fedelma, which I would definitely prefer. Edelma looks like it's missing something.
