I like Walter better. It has some old time charm. Wallace sounds nerdy to me.
Neither is popular, but I think Walter has a better chance of a comeback.

No, I don't like the nickname Wally. I'm not sure how widespread this is, but where I'm from "wally" was another word for "nerd."
