I like it but I find it a bit difficult to use to my area. I think I also have a love/hate relationship with this name.

I like Lorelei. Despite it's supposedly villainous origin (a Germanic siren) the name seems bright, cheerful, and refreshing. I also like the less common spelling Lorelai, which I believe is how it was spelled on "Gilmore Girls."

The Gilmore Girls association helps but I do really like Lorelei. I find it nicer than Laura, Lauren etc.

I think it seems vaguely tacky, and sort of glossolalic, and its use as a person's real first name seems contrived to me. People who really like it are liable to (deliberately?) misspell as Lorelai because that just looks better to them.

It has a silly, dumb-blonde image to me.

It's got a pretty sound, I guess, but I can't say I like it well enough to want to use it.

I like it, but not so much that I would add it to my favorite list. The myth makes it both cool and a bit bad, I guess.

I cannot separate it from the Marvel character, so it squicks me.

I'll admit, it's a bit pretentious, but if that's a problem, you can easily shorten it to Lori or Rori as a nickname.

It's one of my favorite names. I just like saying it. I think it's lyrical and quirky sounding, but it can also come across as a bit pretentious...and it's hard to find a name it pairs well with.

I never cared for this name, because of the legend I guess. It just makes me think of a temptress or a siren (which probably shouldn't put me off since I adore Parthenope, but somehow Lorelei just seems...slimier). I never cared for the sound, either; I guess it is a bit mysterious and alluring, but it also has a snobby, childish feel. On a person, it evokes the image of an entitled, mid-30's, wannabe enchantress who goes after younger guys who only feign to worship her because of her wealth. Mmph. I'd take just Laura or Lorna over it any day.

I think it's a good name for rocks and water spirits, but I never will get the appeal of it as a name for people.

I don't care for it. It has always seemed like the name of a sunblock brand to me. So, it gives me an oily feeling. Similarity to L'Oreal and Oil of Olay doesn't help.
