[Opinions] Giovonnie
I was going through random Wikipedia articles (lika ya do), when I found out that there's an actress named Giovonnie Samuels.

What do you think of the name? Personally, I don't care for it because it sounds identical to Giovanni and thus very masculine to me. I do think Vonnie is a cute nn for a girl, though. Anyway, thoughts? What do you think about Giovonnie for a girl?

I'd rather see Yvonne than Giovonnie. And I don't even like Yvonne much! It actually rather offends me when people play silly spelling games with names that have got perfectly normal forms in their own language. There's nothing wrong with ignorance - I've got a lot of it myself - and it's great if you use it as a springboard to obtain real knowledge, but showing it off in public just isn't cool at all.
The weird spelling bugs me, but it's not godawful. Just very unique. I'm not excited about "Vonnie."
I agree it's very close to Giovanni, plus I'm not even sure how it's supposed to be pronounced.
For a native English speaker, (this American native English speaker, anyway,) Giovanni sounds feminine anyway, so Giovonnie doesn't seen too masculine at all. I agree, Vonnie is cute.
