A girl I went to HS with posted a birth announcement over the weekend.

I have to say, Owen Francis surprised me. I could see her picking Owen, but Francis seems so out of her style. I assumed she was a trendy-type namer and would have gone with Jayden Owen or something like that.

Anyway - wdyt of Owen Francis' new name?

That's a nice name, especially to come out of someone you expected Jayden from. I think Francis is a fairly common middle name - it's a family name for lots of people, and it's nice and dignified but kind of too stuffy for the front.

Two babies on my news feed are named Piper. For one it's totally what you'd expect. But the other's sister's name is Charlotte, and she's such a gorgeous baby... sigh.

While it's certainly not a favorite, I appreciate Owen's gentility. Owen Francis is lovely, though I prefer Francis Owen.

I know a little boy who first name is Owen and surname is Fra.n.ces. So it sounds good to me. I don't really like Owen and find it about as popular as Jayden around here, but the combo is okay.

Owen is pretty mainstream here too. I am not shocked by the Owen choice, and it definitely fits her. I am surprised at how well the combo flows.

Gosh, I am judgmental... assuming non-name-nerds can't create a proper cadence in a name. Lesson learned.

I'm not a fan of Owen but the name is okay. Francis Owen would've been better, maybe.

Agreed. I like Francis Owen... it's a little more puffed up and unexpected. Though, the use of Francis anywhere is a bit refreshing.

There is nothing special about Owen and Francis has some weight to it.

I like it! It's sharp. I never figured myself an Owen fan, but whenever I see a real nice Owen combo, I'm always struck by it. Owen Francis is much nicer than Jayden Owen. Maybe Francis is an honouring name?

Honoring is a possibility. It really makes the most sense.

I am not usually an Owen fan, but I like this combo too.
