[Opinions] Woods
Woodson is an honoring name, but Woods feels fresh and new. What do you think of it as a name? What middle name would you suggest?
I have a few combos...
Woods Frederick
Woods Henry
Woods Oliver
Woods Theodore
Woods Nathaniel
Woods Thaddeus
Woods Ethan
Woods Alexander
Woods Julian
Woods Timothy
Woods Louis
Woods Joseph
Woods Matthias
Woods Josiah
Thanks!

I adore Woods!! I have Woodrow NN Woods on my shortlist.
Woods Oliver is nice. With something as sort of, I don't know, "commanding" as Woods (it strikes me like a "one name" type name, like Madonna or Cher) I tend to be drawn to the idea of using a family name in the middle.... Hmm I almost think it's cooler without a middle name

Yay! I will never complain about positive feedback.
I absolutely get what you mean about Woods sounding like a "one name" type of name. You mention using a family name, that's what I did with Woods Joseph, Woods Josiah (not really but it has the Jo- sound), and Woods Timothy. They're after my father. I'll be experimenting with other family names now.
Thanks!

IMO, some surnames or word names just don't sound as right as other names. Woods is on that list for me although I have to say that since hearing the name my dd's teacher gave her son, Blanks, Woods does sound more appropriate. Even as the mom's maiden name, Blanks is still so awkward as a fn.
Back to Woods, most of us are used to hearing Woody (usually as a nn for a surname containing Wood), but the point is that we've all heard it before so Woods isn't too out there.
Of your combos, I like the long mns best paired with Woods:
Woods Frederick
Woods Oliver
Woods Theodore
Woods Nathaniel
Woods Alexander
Woods Julian
Woods Timothy
I'd personally avoid mns that are sibilant when paired with Woods.

Blanks would be so awkward as a name. Yikes.
I will say, the idea of Woods as a name just occurred to me yesterday morning. It's still a GP. I had that in my original post but removed it. I probably shouldn't have!
Thanks!

I really dislike it, sorry. Apart from being odd as a name, I also think it just sounds ugly. As a middle name it wouldn't be bad, I don't think.
Putting my dislike aside, I think it sounds good in these of your combos:
Woods Frederick
Woods Theodore
Woods Nathaniel
Woods Alexander
Woods Matthias
I think three-syllable names with the emphasis on the first syllable sound good with it, a la Woods Donovan or Woods Harrison or Woods Adrian.

Thanks! I may not like the opinion but I will never fault you for being honest.
Maybe Woodson nn Woods or slotting it in the middle would be best.

Forrest\Forest would be better.
Woods if anything, makes a better surname. I'd go with Forrest or spelled Forest. Or some other name that that relates to nature.
From the middles, I like Theodore, Alexander, Timothy, Julian, Louis & Joseph the most.
Woods I'm just not getting. Doesn't even sound like a name and I can envision all of the mocking and taunting that would surround it

I like Forest and Forrest quite a bit, they're on my list as middle names.
I can see why Woods wouldn't appeal to others. I'm not worried about taunting. I know a guy whose full first name is Woody. He's never been teased about it (I've asked) and in my thinking Woody would be more prone to teasing than Woods.
Thanks!

Phew! I was expecting a whole lot of negative feedback but so far things have been pretty positive.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I like it, it puts me in mind of Brooks which I love too. It would as a nickname for Woodson if you preferred.
I like Brooks as well! I'm glad you brought it up as I don't think I've added it to my BN list.
Also, I had considered it as a nickname for Woodson but I don't like Woodson as well.
Thanks!
