Silver is a fantastic middle and a ho-hum first I think. It's such a common word that it rings like "apple" when used as a name, but seems to spice up a combo in the middle.

I think it's cute and edgy at the same time. It's nice and I like it, but I'm not sure if it'd age well... Actually, I can see it on a kid, teen, and elderly man fairly well, it's just the years in between I can't picture. I think I like it best in the middle spot, where it can be quirky-cool without seeming bizarre (Jonathan Silver is an awesome combo; makes me think of Jonathan Swift). I like the idea of Sylvia "Silver"! That's pretty cool. A girl born around Christmas time could be named Sylvia Isabel or something and you could call her Silver Bells sometimes.

I like Silvester a lot, and Silver is a natural nickname so yes I like it for a boy

Silver is a good name for a horse, but not a person. "Hi ho, Silver!"

Andrew, Jonathan and James are all great names, but I really don't like Drew at all.

Jonathan Silver is very handsome. I love Silver but prefer it on a girl.

I think Silver is OK, I just think there are too many better names out there for me to use it. I quite like my bastardisation of Jonathan: Joe - Nathan with Silver. But Jonathan Silver is a bit Long John Silver. I think it does make a cool middle name.

I knew a guy who went by Silver. It was either a known fact, or suspected by everyone he worked with - I can't recall which - that it was a self-bestowed name and his real name was Robert or something like that. He was a quirky person... nice, creative minded, smart, but slightly prickly and introverted - he had that 1990s geek chic thing going on, if you know what I'm talking about. So that's what I think of. It's a pseudo sort of name, characterish, would seem awkwardly affected even if it's not. A usable nickname though, if you don't mind the airs or if you even like it. Noboby had any problem calling the guy Silver. But, it was still the word. It didn't become a name, even calling him that every day.

What it keeps making me think of in spite of myself, is silver hair and silverback gorillas. A connotation of male age status. And of Nevada and the old West.

+eta anyway I hadn't heard of the show so I kinda ignored the names. Is that a reality show or are the names fake? Jonathan Silver is really obvious? Long John Silver? No way did someone come up with that and not realize.

Heigh ho, Silver! It's a horse name. If it has to be on a person, I think it's more feminine than masculine.

When I see this as a name, I don't think of the color first.

I think of Long John Silver's, anime, old westerns, "the silver screen", silver dollars, silver bells, silver jewelry, and polishing silverware.

I agree it's pretty unisex. I vastly prefer Silvie, Silva, Silvan, Silvano, or Silas, though.

You'd think with all of the classic & common names, 'Silver' would have been something different. It just sticks by a mile and not in a pleasent way. It just doesn't work as a name- especially as a first or middle in my opinion. Barely passes as a plausible surname. I get that people can be named whatever (and in this day and age that litterly means...whatever) but some such as *Silver* just doesn't feel very "Name-ish" to me.
The others are completely fine of course

I like Silver. It's been on my list for a long time, though I never really use it in combos for some reason. I know it's a Jewish surname (I'm guessing that's where Jonathan gets it from, though I could be wrong), but I could also see it as a color name. I prefer it on a boy - like a simpler Sylvester.

Silver is my favorite color, to start. I like the sound and meaning of the word and I think it parallel's enough profession names and nature names to not be SO out there, while still sounding fresh.
