BEE tris. This was my grandma's name. To me, BEE tris is more American, and BEE uh tris is more British.

Huh, I would have assumed the opposite. I'm sort of curious what region you're from now...
(I've mostly lived in the SE and NW, and I've never heard it pronounced BEE-tris.)

I'm from the Green Bay, Wisconsin area. My grandma's grandparents were from Germany and Prussia, so maybe that affected how the family says it.
