Like other people have mentioned, it's so associated with Amelia Bedelia that it's almost comical to think of using it...but I think that impression is strongest when it's the second name, so it'd be most usable as a first name.Bedelia Danielle

I love Bedelia. I actually know of one who goes by Delia, so I've been thinking about it myself lately. I don't have that strong of association with Amelia Bedelia so maybe that's why I don't mind it. I like Bidelia "Biddy" too :)

It's awful, like a joke, which is probably why it is most famous paired as Amelia's last name.

Maybe it's the pairing that makes it a joke? I can't see Bedelia without thinking of Amelia Bedelia. Ans since she's the only image I have of the name, I can't take Bedelia seriously as a name.

there is ...The actress Bonnie Bedelia, which I think is also silly-sounding.

I kind of like Bonnie Bedelia as a name

I sort of like it as a fun occasional nickname for a Bridget or Brigid, but not so much on its own. Rich, gaudy, mean old lady. It's hard for me to come up with nicknames that don't absolutely throw it over the top.Bedelia Iris
Bedelia Summer
Bedelia Violet
Bedelia Eve
Bedelia Kathleen
Bedelia Therese

It's ok. The only thing I wouldn't pair with it is Amelia

Makes me think of Amelia Bedelia. I loved those books as a kid. The name doesn't really do anything for me, it kind of sounds like a joke name, perhaps because of the books.
