I love Cyrus but not Cypress which seems more feminine to me. I do agree with you that Cypress Night is very descriptive and almost poetic ... almost.

Cypress is actually really cool. I think I like it better for a girl only because of the -ess ending, but as a nature name it's fine for a boy. I don't think it excessively strange.

For a boy perhaps Cypress Benaiah. I know they're totally different but I like having a name with more history and yet still unusual with it.

Cypress Night as a combo is a bit much, imo, but I do like the name Cypress... on a girl. The -ess strikes me as very feminine (Bess, Tess, etc.).

If I were to name a boy Cypress, he'd need something strong as a middle name - strong, but not stereotypical or try-hard (i.e. no "Maverick"). Something like Cypress Henry, maybe, or Cypress Alexander.

1) I once taught a Cypress who was a girl, which I appreciated from a distance. For no particular reason, I don't really like it on a boy, but that combo does have personality and appeal, in spite of it being totally nms. It's usable.

2) For a boy? Something that fits with the nature-y vibe while still being an established "name" - or at least that's what I'd try for. Cypress Jasper, Cypress Fox, something like that.

Cypress Night sounds like an old voodoo tale out of the bayous in Louisiana or something.
Cypress just isn't a name to me.
There is a book by some author with a long African name, Ntozaki or something like that, that features three sisters named Cypress, Indigo and Sassafras. That's the only sibset I can think of that includes Cypress.

I like Cyrus & Silas and Cy names in general. I like cypress trees. I guess I like it!

It sounds exactly like Cyprus, so the name just sounds like a caption on a holiday photo - or on a painting of a knight in Cyprus!
They are beautiful trees though.

I'm not bothered by Cypress or Night but I think it's too terribly hippie together.
