[Opinions] Glade
Does it work as a name? That air freshener company changed their name, so I don't think that's too much of an issue, but wdyt? Also, would you guess girl or boy? photo image_zps50478a13.jpg

I don't think it would be bad. I'm sorry with the world again but when did they do that?

Actually, you can still buy Glade products in some parts of the world so I would probably avoid it. I don't think it would make a very good name but it seems like it would be more suited for a boy. Because I live in the US, it also makes me think of the Everglades, a swampy region in Florida.

I quite like the sound, but I still think of the air freshener (I didn't know the changed the name actually). I wouldn't use it myself.I think I would guess boy, but it's pretty ambiguous.

I don't think it works well as a name. That being said I immediately think girl when I hear it.

Glade is something you spray when the dog farts. No, I don't think it works as a name, sorry.

I think the sound is pleasant enough, but I saw your subject and thought "Plug-ins" so I think the air freshener association is going to hang on for awhile. It puts me in mind of Gladys and does have a nice sound otherwise. I would lean towards girl, but think it could work for either. ETA: It looks like the association won't disappear for Americans. The company name was not changed here.

Wow yeah I was sure they had changed from Glade to Air Wick but I guess I was just completely wrong and Glade is still around. I'm in the US also. I honestly haven't seen or heard of a glade product in forever. But I don't know what I was thinking of.

It looks like they did have a name change in Germany and the Netherlands (I had to google as I thought I'd seen a commercial relatively recently). Maybe you heard something and your brain pieced it together funny.

I still think air freshener, so much so that I can't picture whether it's a boy or girl.

I didn't know that the air freshener company changed their name! I will still think of it that way for a while.I would guess boy...like Wade.I don't think I'd like it on a girl, but a boy Glade might actually be cute.

People will think of air freshners for a while, the name also makes me think of Glad Clng Wrap and now I have the jingle stuck in my head.

I think at least for a while, air freshener is still an issue, regardless if the company changed the name. Smell something, someone still sprayed some Glade. I don't even watch TV and I will always think of that. It's the only familiar use. Nobody uses the word except semi-poetically. It's namey. But, it puts me in mind of -ayden and -ady trendy sounding names (Brady, Grady), before I think of a naturey word. The word is feminine IMO and it reminds a little of Gladys visually, so I think it would be a slightly better girl name. But it's surnamey enough that it could be either.
