[Opinions] Lowanna
WDYT of Lowanna?
Way outside of my normal name tastes but it has been on my mind constantly lately.
For some background, it is a legitimate name. It means "girl" in the Gumbaynggir Aboriginal language and does have usage in Australia.

I don't like it. Sounds like a very short Anna. Jovanna is much nicer. But interesting with an Australian Aboriginal name!
Gawrsh - I assumed it was an unsuccessful twist on Louanne.
I can't say I find 'low' a cheerful start to a name.

It's alright. It has a pleasant sound, but I prefer Lowenna, which has the awesome meaning of joy, and I think it's easier to say.
It's weird. I like Louanna better
And her brother Hi-Deff.
I think I prefer Loanna too. I'll have to do some more research to make sure that's a legit variation on the spelling although I imagine it is.
I don't mind the sound, but I do not like that spelling. I'd probably go with Loanna, or Loana. If it's being translated from an Aboriginal language, the English spelling is kind of made up anyway, right?
You're definitely right about the spelling thing. All Aboriginal languages were oral traditions so I guess it isn't super important how they are spelled.
I actually kind of prefer the spellings Loanna or Loana and they seemed to have been used somewhat in Aboriginal communities although I've never met one. Thanks!

I prefer the Cornish name Lowenna
I don't care for it
I read a book once where a character described another character as "low, sick, and sad." That's what I thought of when I saw this name. I'm not in favor of it.
How is it pronounced? Lo-WAN-na or Lo-WAHN-na?
It reminds me of a name that was slightly popular here a long time ago, Lawana (pronounced like La Wanda without the D). I had a neighbor named Lawana once.
If it's pronounced like that, Lowanna is certainly easy to say and doesn't feel all that different from Johanna.
If it is pronounced like "low" + Anna, then it's too much like "low Anna" to be appealing to me.

It does.
Meanings aren't overly important to me, especially when they are carrying strong cultural ties for me.
Thanks for your response. I know the sound won't be too everyone's liking :)
