[Opinions] Rainwater
Do you think Rainwater could be a cool name for a female character in a story? I think it sounds beautiful, but it's way too weird to be used for real.

Sounds like stuff dripping from the gutters. Definitely not for a real person.
I think it's beautiful for a character. Katniss was a character from The Hunger Games, so I think Rainwater would work perfectly fine. She would have to have some sort of significance to water though; otherwise it wouldn't make much sense.
Sure. For characters anything goes.
I think it depends on the story you are trying to write. If it's a fantasy or sci-fi story, then you could probably make it work. However, if it's supposed to be in a modern setting, I would stick with a less unusual name.
It sounds like a fairy name to me; also reminds me of the surname Drinkwater.
The image I get from it is more of mud puddles and groundwater than of falling rain, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing for a character; it just makes it earthier/murkier than Rain.
I'd expect there to be a story behind it.

Ooh.. I really like it as a word, or as a name for a nail polish color or something, but it's sort of redundant as a name. Character would be cool.
No. Rainwater is the water that forms mud puddles and goes down drains. Falling rain is just called rain, and only when it is on the ground it's called rainwater. It's not a refreshing natural image like rain is, IMO. I think it could be a last name, or a translation of a name in another language, in fiction.

It sounds Native American, so I see it only working if the character was that!
It does have a nice sound to it, but to me it's not a beautiful word. Rainwater is kinda icky. But if I'm the odd one out, I do think it could be cool to use for a character.
In a story, there would have to be a very good reason a person is named Rainwater, and in that case, you have to be sure that story doesn't try to crowd out the real story.
I could certainly see it in a fantasy story.
I did once work with a woman called Rainey, and constantly wondered what her parents were thinking.

It does sound kind of beautiful. :) Yeah, I think it could work.
It's good for a story yes
