Once I had a colleague whose parents almost called her Alexandra, but decided that they'd always use one particular nn so they might as well settle for it. So they did. And to clarify the pronunciation, they made it Zahn - nice long A sound.
And she lived happily enough until she started high school, signed up for German and her classmates started calling her Tooth.
