[Opinions] Loretta
Do you like Loretta? And, more importantly, does it have a "country" vibe to you?It does to me. My sister had a friend in college named Loretta, born circa 1963, and I was surprised because neither she nor her family were "country" at all. Or is this only because Loretta Lynn gave it a country vibe when actually all sorts of people used it?

I really like it! It's been growing on me lately. But it does sound so, so country to me.I think maybe it also has a bit of a hipster vibe, because it seems mid-century/vintage, which is sort of "in" right now? It's my mother's name (she was born in 1957, and her family was very "country"). She hates it...I think mainly because she was named that after a deaf/blind/handicapped aunt who died the year she was born, and that association was apparently so awkward for her and/or her family that she's always just been called by her middle name...plus, it's kind of ironic, considering she's allergic to laurel.

I was wondering why you'd think it was country until you mentioned Loretta Lynn lolanyways, I like this name. It's a little dated, but it's pretty. A nn could be Lori.

I love it, though I prefer the look of Lauretta. I don't associate it exclusively with the country.

Yes, it sure does. I actually think of nothing else, haha. I don't even know if it's because of Loretta Lynn - is there country character somewhere named Loretta? I knew of a girl named Lauretta, and for some reason, it gives me a different vibe.

All the Lorettas I know are country. It would have had a different vibe in the '50s, perhaps, but now? 100% country.

Yeah, Loretta sounds country and I immediately think of Loretta Lynn. Though, if I actually knew someone named Loretta my perception might shift.

"But why do you want to be Loretta, Stan?"That's the only thing I ever think when I hear Loretta. Or Stan, for that matter... :DI don't think Loretta feels country at all. It's more exotic sounding. It's ok, but sounds dated.

I went to school with a girl named Loretta.I didn't know her well;our classes were big, about 50 students.
I do remember that she was very pretty, even beautiful. And certainly a nice person.
Not particularly "country", just small town, as we all were.

I prefer it spelled Lauretta.

The only Loretta I've known was an old lady at a care home I used to work at. She was very proper and glamorous, so that's what I think of. I'm not sure what I would've thought of it before her, but I think it's pretty.

It seems country to me, yeah. Not sure how grounded in actual usage that is or if it's just my perception. It's a beautiful country name though.Maybe Loretta Lynn has something to do with it. I think of the Townes Van Zandt song that my mom loves so much.

It sounds very old-ladyish to me.

I really, really like Loretta. It does not give me a country vibe; more city hipster.
