There's a small country town in South Africa - in the KwaZulu-Natal province - called Lidgetton. I haven't been able to find an origin for it, but it's also used for the surrounding areas, including a beautiful Nature Conservancy. It's pronounced Lid GET un, so if little Lidgy is pronounced with a G instead of a J, there could be a link.
