[Opinions] Gratefully, nicknames
So I am obsessed with nicknames because I know that realistically, my whole family will call a child by his/her nickname. But I still want to choose names that an adult can wear without embarrassment. WDYT of full names? And do the nicknames seem ok to you? Girl:
Mazarine (MAZ-uh-reen) with nn Mazzy
Saffron with nn Saffy
Rowan (girl) nn Roe
Clara nn Clarie
Paulina nn Paulie
Boys names:
Evander nn Van
Malcolm nn Mal
Walter nn Walt
Ronan nn Rohn
Efraim nn Rem

Girl:
Not a fan of Mazarine but Mazzy is a nice nickname for it
Saffron is pretty, I like Saffy
I always think of Rowan as a more masculine name but it's nice enough name. Roe is ok
To me Clara and Claire are two different names (or versions of the the same name)
Paulina is a bit too old fashioned for me but Paulie works nice, so would LinaBoys;
Like Evander, don't like Van
Malcolm is again old fashioned, like the name but don't know if it works now. Mal is a good nickname
Really don't like Walter but Walt works
Ronan is a really nice name, Rohn sounds weird to me
Don't like Efraim but Rem works

Mazarine (MAZ-uh-reen) with nn Mazzy - I've never heard of Mazarine before, but it doesn't really appeal to me. Mazzy is a cute nickname for it, though. I might also consider "Zeena" or "Zeenie"
Saffron with nn Saffy - Saffron is not my taste at all and I don't really like Saffy either.
Rowan (girl) nn Roe - I love Rowan on a boy, but I can tolerate it on a girl too. And Roe is great.
Clara nn Clarie - I would hate it if my name was Clara and it got "shortened" to Clarie. Clara is so much nicer.
Paulina nn Paulie - Meh, it's okay.Evander nn Van - I love Evander! Van is super cute. I would also like Evan or Ev as a nickname.
Malcolm nn Mal - I love Malcolm too! Mal is okay, but I would use Mac.
Walter nn Walt - Walter is not my style, but Walt is alright, I guess. If I had to nickname a Walter, I guess Walt is a bit better than Wally.
Ronan nn Rohn - I love Ronan. I would never have thought of Rohn, but it sonds good.
Efraim nn Rem - Efraim is very handsome and Rem is genius!

a lot of those are 2-syllable names that don't need shortened forms.

I like Mazarine / Mazzy or Maz although Mazarine is a weird name.
Rowan / Ro is definitely usable.
Clara / Clarie is appealing to me.
Saffron / Saffy is not appealing, I think it sounds airheaded.
Paulina is okay but I think Paulie is ugly.Evander / Van is cool.
I love Malcolm. I think Mac is a more natural and more appealing nick than Mal, though. Mal has bad word-associations... all the mal-words are bad.
Ronan / Roan is good. Ronan naturally contracts, so it's almost the same name.
Efraim / Rem is not very natural and I've seen Rem for Remington, so ... meh
Walter / Walt works but IMO is super clunky and unattractive.

I like these:
Clara nn Clarie*
Paulina nn Paulie*We use Clary for Clarisse and everyone loves itRowan nn Roe makes sense, but it's nms. Not a fan of:
Mazarine (MAZ-uh-reen) with nn Mazzy - because I don't like Mazarine.
Saffron with nn Saffy - because Saffron is too pretty for Saffy.
All the boy's names work well.
I would prefer Ev for Evander, but that is just because I love Evren nn Ev.

Mazarine -reminds me too much of margarine, Mazzy is a cute NN though.
Saffron is OK. My favorite name for Saffy is Saphronia
Rowan -I prefer for a boy, but it's OK.
Clara - love!
Paulina is OK, dated though. Evander -love! Van is a good NN for it.
Malcolm is ok.
Walter is futsy-cute.
Ronan is ok.
Efraim is ok. I like Efra or Ray as nn.

Honestly, like Llewella said, a lot of these sound like casual, once in a while speaking kind of nicknames, not something you would introduce yourself as or put down as your name on a school assignment. Mazzy, Paulie, Van, Mal, and Walt are okay.
Saffy sounds rediculous. Ro is okay as an occasional shortening of Rowan, but Roe just reminds me of fish eggs and Roe v Wade. :\ Clarie feels awkward to say, and it looks like you misspelled Claire. Rohn and Rem seem especially forced. I would spell it Roan, if you really want to go that route.I second some of lakin5's alternate options: Mazarine nn Rina, Saffron nn Ronnie, and Paulina nn Lina.I would also suggest:
Mazarine nn Zarine, Zarina, or Mina
Saffron nn Sonny
Evander nn Evan, Ever, or Anders
Malcolm nn Colm
Efraim nn Remy ?
I really don't think Rowan, Clara, Ronan, or Efraim need a nickname.

I think many of these seem like casual nicknames, as in you would call them that on occasion while speaking but they'll never be introduced that way or write their name that way.Mazzy, Saffy, Paulie, and Walt all could work as true nicknames though. The other thing with nicknames to me is they make sense for longer first names or for very common first names. Uncommon and short names (like Rowan-on-a-girl or Efraim) don't lend themselves to nicknames, and using a syllable out of them sounds rather forced.

They are all sound good to me! Esspically love Clara, Paulina, and Saffron! Some alternatives are these: Mazarine - Rina or Rini
Saffron - Ronnie
Paulina - Lina
