Help[Opinions] Winifer
I just came across a professional volleyball player from the Dominican Republic named Winifer. (At first I thought it was Winter and got excited, but no such luck.) From a quick internet search I can see it's used by some other people in the DR and Venezuela. I wonder if it's a Spanish form of Winifred, a mashup, or something else. Wdyt?

It sounds like a baby trying to say "Jennifer".

Maybe just a variant though, since the W is not used in Venezuela usually.

I wanted to say, "It takes the worst parts of Winifred and Jennifer and mashes them together", but then I realized that I think the worst part of Winifred is "fred", so that statement isn't really true. Nevertheless, I don't like the beginning of Winifred either and I hate the "fer" ending of Jennifer, so let's say it sounds to me like a bad mash-up of Winifred and Jennifer.

At first I said wtf is that and then I thought, hmm ... if Guinevere = Jennifer, it's probably just that name adjusted for a foreign language. If I think of it as Guinevere / Gwenhwyfar with an accent, it's kinda neat. But as an English mashup of Jennifer and Winifred, it doesn't appeal to me.
