[Opinions] Atticus
Met a baby named Atticus and thought it was awesome. One of the best characters, and such a wholesome name.Still writing, still dreaming.

It's pretty much a cliche name among hipster babies - it's like the John or Michael of the hipsters.

I'm not a fan of the name, but don't find it to be a bad name either.

I overheard of a child Atticus a couple of years ago too! He went by Attie which I think makes the strong name much more wearable for a child. Before I heard of it being used on that child it had already made my list and in fact my top ten - though has since slipped - it remains on my long list. Although Harper Lee introduced me to the name over five years ago now, it remains a favourite of mine due to it's sound not just Atticus Finch.

I didn't used to like it, and I didn't see the appeal at first. I have a friend with a name said Attica so it always felt a bit awkward. Then suddenly I completely fell in love with the name and I adore Atticus now. It has an adventurous, energetic vibe that's just wonderful, and really attracts me to a name. It does feel a bit trendy right now, although maybe that'll die down. I did/do have reservations after Go Set A Watchman. I know some people almost felt sorry for parents who named their sons Atticus, but I haven't read either book, and I'd definitely do so if I did use the name, so that I can judge for myself.

I love Atticus. It has a bit of a hipster vibe for some, but I like it despite that.

The sound is sort of awkward to me, and it just seems like a smoosh of the words attic and us. Perhaps if I met an Atticus in real life the name would grow on me more?

I love it! And, anticipating common complaints:No, I don't think it's pretentious. No, I don't care that it has the word "attic" in it.
