[Opinions] Iva
Caught this name while watching the local news, belonging to an 88 year old woman who has been running for 30 years (she also took part in marathons). Her name is pronounced IE-və.WDYT? Do you think it would work for a baby girl today? What middle names, do you think, would fit in with Iva?My PNL: http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/149249

It's okay, I guess. I neither love it nor hate it. I think it would be fine for a baby today.

Her is pronounced ee-vuh, not ie-və. It is a germanic means "yew". I love this name. And I much love a name Ivona. In my country it is very popular . This name brings Iva Frühlingová, a Bohemian singer singing French and Czech.Iva Éowyn

Marathon lady sounds cool, but I don't like her name. It sounds like 'I've a', and would be very unfortunate with any noun surname, like, say, Payne. It's also pretty close to Ivor, especially in non-rhotic dialects. And there are multiple similar and more familiar names to choose from that don't have these problems, so if I liked the sound, I'd pick one of those instead.

I do think it would work today. I actually know of a town by the same name. It's close enough to Eva that most people probably wouldn't find it too out there.

I like it, but I would be worried about people mispronouncing it as EE-və instead of IE-və.
