[Opinions] Re: Middle name for Emmie?
I think all the names which could be used for a full name for Emmie are too popular and trendy (eg Emily, Emma) or i just really don't like the sound Emmaline.
And i jsut dont like Emilia either, yet i love the name Emmie, weird i know.

Its a tough dilemma choosing to use a nn or give the child the formal version to give them options. However, I think that people have to do what they want because if you name her Emma but call her Emmie their will always be one annoying person who insist her name is Emma & will call her that. So unless you're okay with that I'd definitely go with the nn.For us that dilemma involves Maggie! Love it, but Margaret makes me cringe yet while I'm okay with Maggie just being a Maggie this does hold me back about the name. Furthermore, some people really are over the top about it such as is the case with legitimate first names Lily & Liv. No, you don't need a Lillian or an Olivia thank you very much especially if she's always going to be a Lily! Seems very pretentious to me. BUT, I do like Olivia even though I prefer just Liv and so if we were to use the name we'd go with Olivia to give the child more options (besides Liv is not an accepted first name in Canada, as many do not know of its Scandavian origin). Ultimately, its all about balance. All things being equal options & formal names are better IMHO. Since Emma, Emily, Emilia, and Emmaline are no gos what about Emmanuelle? Emerson? As for the original question Emmie Katherine or something along those lines gets my vote. It definitley should be paired with a long classical name to give the combination balance. Is the Emmie spelling set in stone? What about Emmy or Emme? I prefer Emmy.

I think Emmie on its own is great! But I'm one of the weird ones who thinks you should name someone what they're going to be called, instead of feeling like you have to give them a "full name" when you never intend on using it! I really like Emmie by the way.
