[Opinions] WDYT of 'Tavey'
I read this book by Jude Deveraux, called Remembrance. In it is this guy called Tavey Tavistock.
What do you think of Tavey, and/or Tavey Tavistock.
I just used the name in one of my own shortstories. I think it sounds really good, actually. But I didn't use the surname.
Another character got the surname: Lillian Tavistock. WDYT? Too boring, too random, or?
Please tell my what you think :) Thank you.

I totally thought Jude Devereaux was a boy, and I just googled it. That's unfortunate.

Yeah I know. She is a her. I thought she was a guy in the beginning as well. You know, Jude Law... thought it was only a boy's name.
But then you think about it.. what kind of guy is able to write books like Deveraux'? I mean, come on ;D

I'd never heard of the author, so I don't even know what books Devereaux writes! lol That's why I was looking them up. I don't really read romances.
It was the same guy all through the book (well, his reincarnated soul, right?) Wasn't his first name something else, and they used Tavi as a nn for his last name Tavistock? But John Talis was his name in the first life, with the nn Tally when they were kids. And then he was a modern Middle-Eastern guy with another similar name, but I can't remember it.
Yep, you're right. ¨
First it was Talis, then Tavey Tavistock, and then in the end Tariz. Fantastic book :P I really love it. But yeah, it was the same guy all through the book, same soul.

I agree it sounds nicknamey. My favorite boy's name is Tavish and I could imagine calling a little Tavish by Tavey. And for a girl, Tavia or Octavia would certainly fit.
I don't like Tavey Tavistock. The alliteration sounds silly.

One of the names on my list is Tavis, I wonder if it's the same as Tavish. In the name book I have, Tavis is celtic and means Sohn of David. Is it the same?
I've seen Tavis listed as an alternative of Tavish. And the usual meaning I see for Tavish is a Scottish or Irish gaelic form of Thomas meaning twin.
I'm skeptical though and don't care about meanings much, so don't quote me on it. I have no idea.

Tavis and Tavish
Tavish comes from Tavis by way of the Scottish Clan MacTamhais, or anglicized phonetically MacTavish. The founder of the Clan MacTamhais was Taus(phonetically Tavis).

I'm not sure if Taus (Tavis) actually translates to Thomas or if that's just the Christian name assigned to the Gaelic name, I know Tammas is the lowland Scot form of Thomas.

Yeah, I don't mind about the meaning to much either, I was just interessted if it's the same name. Tavish is nice too.
That's funny, because another character in the novel, Remembrance, is called Talis. I like that name ALOT! Tavish sounds really good too :P How do you pronounce it, with a long 'a'?
No, short A. Like in "apple."
Okay. That sounds best too :)
Lillian Tavistock is fine.
Tavey is too nicknamey for a full name to me, but that might be because my sister said that if I ever did name a girl Octavia, you guessed it, she wants to call her Tavey. So I'm a little biased.

Yeah, you're actually right. I never thought of it as a nickname, but I see it now :) I never thought of it as a girls-name either, but Octavia/Tavey is actually kinda cute :)
I would probably spell it Tavie for Octavia, though, so Tavey could be the masculine form in my little world. :)
Of course ;D
