I remember a lot of people were turned off by the name George during Dubbya's years even if they supported him as president because he was a very controversial figure and they were worried about people associating politics with their child's name. And George has always been a common name. Considering Donald hasn't been popular for a long time naming your child Donald would be something of a statement, and I think that would only appeal to a small number of people.
