[Opinions] Ziggy
I just read a book with a five year old character named Ziggy. That was his real, full name. What would you think if you met a five year old Ziggy? "And by the way, dearie, your punctuation sucks canal water!"

Ziggy sounds like a pet's name, not a person's name. I know there's Ziggy Marley, but Ziggy doesn't sound like something I'd see someone calling their kid.

I'd assume he was Polish - there are a lot of Polish people here - and it was short for Zygmunt or something similar. Just Ziggy would probably make me eyeroll a bit, but it could be worse (although it might suck if he couldn't play guitar).

I'd feel sorry for him and think that his parents are jerks.

I'd think his parents were massive David Bowie fans who had a *bit* too high of expectations for their son. Especially if he wound up not being a musician at all.

I would think his parents are hipsters. Cute on a 5yo, ok on a 16/17yo (have met one, he seemed quite hipster too). But not sure how it would work on a 45yo or 80yo?Great nickname, but definitely needs a full name to fall back on.

I would think that if it's not a nn (and I really can't think what first name it could be short for; a last name like Zigler or Zigman or something, maybe, but no first name comes readily to mind) his parents are not too sharp.

Male or female? anyway, doesn't matter. I would think that this was the child's nick-name. And since it's not, I'd think the parents were silly. It's a cute nick-name, but that's all. Could you call a child Zigurat?I have a friend named Siggy, or Sig;his actual name is Sigurd.

Probably the same thing I thought when I met a kid named Tizzy, which was "cute"....except I'd also be thinking "Stardust!", plus Tizzy did actually have a full name (Tiziana).I'm not sure it would age well, but it does sound kind of like Signy, which I like, so I guess it could work?

I too have began to like Stardust as a name!

I'd think, "It's cute but...really? His parents couldn't come up with anything else? Ok."It's an adorable nn but it'd be better if that's all it was.

I wish it were short for Sigmund, Siegfried, Sigurd, or Zelig.

Sigismund also has its charm.

His parents must be David Bowie fans.
