[Opinions] Cameo
Here I go, breaking my "Don't post about unusual names you come across at work" rule. I don't post about most of them, but every now and then I can't help myself.
So I spoke to a female customer named Cameo. The only time I have run across Cameo as a name before was as the name of my mother-in-law's Persian cat.
What do you think of it as the name of a person? I think it's actually rather pretty.

I am all for finding loving homes for children who truly need them.
I am against unnecessary, unethical, forced, and illegal "adoptions".
I do not support sealed records, altered birth certificates, coercion of first parents, unenforceable "open" adoptions, and avoidance of fathers' rights.

This is what Cameron gets get called as a nickname
While the sound of the word itself is pretty, I just can't see it as a name.
There are two negative things about this.
1. It reminds me (inescapably) of camel.
2. It sounds like one of those luxury item names that some people of questionable judgment use, e.g. Champagne, Lexus, Diamond, to try and sound like they're above their own socioeconomic level -- I don't think I need to mention that it is not convincing.

I think the sound is lovely. But that is probably because it sounds so similar to Camille.
The spelling has a masculine look though, so it caught me off guard when you said "female".
I would never use it, nor recommend it, but it's kinda cool to know someone has the name even if I think it was a bit too gutsy on the parent's part.
I mean, cameo means a short appearance right? I mean... who wants to saddle a kid with the name that literally means they will only be making a short, but memorable, appearance? Yeep.

Yes, but it also means this:
That's probably what the parents had in mind.

My thoughts exactly. Awesome dude. Still performing, apparently!
I love Cameo and his awesome codpiece. "Candy" is one of my favorite songs.
I don't mind Cameo, although I'm not entirely sure how to pronounce it. It also feels a bit weird for a woman, maybe because it' ending in -o? I think it would have been better for a guy.
It sounds like a stage name a drag queen might take for himself. Cameo Flage, Cami-O! or like that.
