[Opinions] Denzil
I live in a small town in Indiana and have only come across this name on this website before, until now. Within the last week, I've encountered it three times. One on a World War II service record, one in an obituary, and one on a living person. I asked the guy if it was spelled Denzel, thinking maybe he'd been named for Denzel Washington, but he said it was Denzil.

It's a Cornish name, and it should have the emphasis on the first syllable.
I really like it! I went to university with a guy called Denzil and he pulled it off pretty well

Which makes it all the more interesting. Ancestry in this area is primarily German and Swiss with a smaller percentage of French and Irish. I should have asked if he knew how/why his parents chose the name. It is being pronounced correctly.
Yes, my mum went to school (in Cornwall) with a Denzil (pr. DEN-zul)
That happened to me too! It's freaky, I know exactly how you feel. Not with Denzil, but other names. For example, a few months ago I first heard the name Aloysius, and I thought, well that's a cool name, never really heard it before. Well the next day on the TV show I was watching, the host was Aloysius. Then the next day, I see an obituary for someone named Aloysius, then I learned my cousins Uncle Al's real name was Aloysius. Not just that name, tons of others. Always thought it was short for Alfred or Alexander.
It's called the Rutebega affect. Or maybe the Winnebago effect, I can't remember.
Anyway, it means that once you hear a word or idea, you will start to notice that word or idea more often because it is in the forefront of your mind.
Happens with cool name to me all the time!
